Words of encouragement.

Why go on overseas mission? Why step out from our comfortable lives our fantastic church our jobs we love away from our families for a year in a village in Africa to a life completely different from what we are accostomed to? Why - becasue God has called us too.

Galations 5:13 You, my brothers were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge in sinful nature; rather serve one another in love.

1 John 3:17 If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.

I spent many months last year questioning where this idea to take the family overseas for a year came from. Was it just a fantastic adventure that we would get all the benefits from? Were we just fulfilling our own selfish desires to see Africa and this was a good excuse to do it? I questioned my motives for many months. But after much prayer and discussion between ourselves and with others I truly  believe God is leading us. There have been too many 'coincidences' that are pointing us to pursue this.

Time and again opportunities arose or conversations were had or links to Africa appeared that we believe was God opening doors for us.  So we ran with the idea and applied to CMS as short term volunteers and still the doors are opening. On googling CMS I discovered a family soon to go to Tanzania who had kids the same age as ours, they were from Adelaide where we were going to be spending Christmas. They attended the church we were recommended to go to whilst in Adelaide. We met up with them just 2 weeks before they set off for a ling term placement in Murgwanzwa and promised to keep in touch. Since then CMS have been pursuing the possibility of us joining this family in Murgwanza as a couple of the other long term missionaries from there will be on home assignment next year. Then we discovered our former minister had been to Murgwanza an older couple from our church had been to Murgwanza and another lady had been a long term missionary there for many years. The Lord just keeps tapping us on the shoulder and encouraging us to go forth and serve.

So now the planning begins - endless form filling out and applications and fundraising. But I just wanted to say - if the Lord is tapping you on the shoulder, don't ignore it - He may have great things planned for you.
