We drove to Dodoma today. More crazy stories to tell. One, we were stopped by the police because we didn't have a fire extinguisher in our car, after much debate between the police and Gershom we agreed to pay a 20,000 shilling fine to be on our way. So it's ok to overtake at high speed on a blind corner and it's ok to have 50 people in a 20 seater mini bus and it's ok to drive on either side of the road BUT it's not ok to not have a fire extinguisher in your car!!!

Story two: we stopped to use the public toilets and you had to pay 200 shilling per person...and let me tell you, it was not worth the money - a bush on the side of the road would have been worth more.

So we are day 3 of this crazy journey to Murgwanza.. Gershom is still traveling with us and I have nick named him my fundi (which is expert in Swahili). He has agreed to come on to Murgwanza which will be great as trying to get accomadation and food on the way would otherewise be very challenging.

We had dinner tonight with Helen and Raymond from Sydney - the boys were most confused as to why they too were in Africa.

The boys are doing great and are totally un-fussed by all the new sights, smells and sounds. Tomorrow we are going to Dodoma markets to look for a Tanzania soccer jersey for Jakey. Then Sunday we will start our drive north.

Will write again from Murgwanza...hopefully we will get our Internet sorted. Mobiles are good if you want to drop us a line, they are on the website here
